BEAR BIO

Walter, know as ‘the Bear’ is a singer/guitarist who performs solo or with his band, BearBones. He specializes in classic blues covers (i.e. Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Robert Johnson) and throws in a selection of the Rolling Stones, 60’s classic rock and a few original tunes.

Bear’s a charismatic performer who has been at it for over 40 years. He enjoys working solo as much as being the front-man for his band or any group of musicians. He creates a tight rapport with his audience and often engages them in his performance.

BearBones is a virtual band with musicians enlisted as needed for the venue or recording session. Bear has a network of competent, experienced musicians who are well versed in his material.

Along with Bear’s guitar and vocals, BearBones finds the harp essential to the ‘back porch’ blues sound. Harp is usually played by Gary, Bear’s music partner of many years, but there is a stable of stand-ins equally adept who love to fill this role.

The concept behind BearBones has always been to strip the music down to its core and play it predominantly acoustic, the way it was originally presented. The band performs honest renditions of the blues with great respect to the bluesmen whose material they draw from.

Bear and his band play at the Mill Wharf, Scituate Harbor and other South Shore venues. Bear can be found at many of the open mics and blues jams from Plymouth to Cambridge. He also runs the First Fridays- Open Mic and the Mt Hope Coffee House, a benefit event, in Scituate, Ma.
